Pink Floyd 'Dark Side of the Moon' Tank with Red Jeans

To play off the prism print of my Pink Floyd inspired boxy tank from Lyric Culture, I wore Celebrity Pink Jean's red skinny jeans for a vibrant pop of color. Renee had the idea to shoot this look against a stark white background for a bold effect. The tank's 'Dark Side of the Moon' album print has a vintage-like quality to it and the sides of the tank feature caged straps for a more youthful look. I wore a grey bralette underneath to tie in the faded grey print, as well as various Raptor Jewelry cuffs and rings too add personality and give a boho flair. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album was a US number 1 ranked album, remaining on the Billboard chart for more than fourteen years, and selling more than 40 million copies worldwide.

Nude Dress with Turkish jewelry

I found this simple nude dress from Forever 21 which I knew would be perfect for the dusty hues of the Moroccan-inspired surroundings of mine and Renee's boutique hotel in Palm Springs. To add details to the dress, I layered Raptor Jewelry silver necklaces and rings with pops of turquoise which perfectly stood out against the nude dress. To add oomph to a simple dress you have in your closet, play around with layering dainty or chunky necklaces, bracelets & cuffs, earrings and rings. You can also try a statement belt with subtle jewelry. Photos taken by Renee Rogers

Lynyrd Skynyrd's Free Bird Tank

Make a statement with Lyric Culture's song lyrics tees and tanks. This 'Free Bird' faux suede tank is inspired by Lynyrd Skynyrd's song Free Bird. The song was originally released in 1973 and is on Rolling Stone's 500 greatest songs of all time. I gave the tank a desert-wanderer look by styling a wide fedora hat, cut off shorts, and booties; as I was on an adventure in Palm Springs with Renee when we shot this, so the setting (and weather) was quite fitting. As the lyrics evoke a sense of departure, spreading ones wings and and being free because sometimes you just can't help being who you are or having the deepest desire to travel and be consumed with wanderlust.

If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be travelling on, now,
cause there's too many places Ive got to see.
But, if I stayed here with you, girl,
Things just couldn't be the same.
cause I'm as free as a bird now,
And this bird you can not change.
Lord knows, I cant change.

Business Chic Style on the Streets of DTLA

Renee and I visited Downtown LA for the Textile Show at the California Market Center so she could scope out new fabric vendors for her label, 16thColony. I've been working on 16thColony's brand management and was so excited to get to be apart of this side of her business. She also just finished her samples for the SS16 collection, and we will be shooting her lookbook this upcoming week (I can barely contain my excitement, and can't wait to share the collection with you).

For a more polished, business oriented (but fashion-forward look), I styled a trendy lace up front top and tucked it into grey skinny jeans. Although depending on your workplace and your bust, you may want to save a lace up front top for a night out or a weekend outfit since it could be risque. You can try a crew or v-neck tee or blouse; or if you want to add more volume up top wear a loose button down blouse and tuck it into your jeans, letting it billow out slightly on top.

A great way to transition into a Fall without wearing heavy, dark denim is with colored skinny jeans in neutral or dark colors. I kept the outfit professional with my hair slick back into a low ponytail, wore simple nude pumps, and threw a trench coat over my shoulders for that 'on-the-go' look. While visiting DTLA, Renee snapped a few street style shots of me, here's what I wore:

Sunglasses, Fossil
Lace Up Front Top, Sheinside
Low Rise Skinny Jeans, Celebrity Pink Jeans
Trench Coat, Forever 21
Pact Pump in Nude, Charles David Shoes
Clutch, Ann Taylor

Las Bayadas Mexican Beach Blanket

I am still holding onto Summer, it's kind of hard to move on to Autumn when the weather allows you to enjoy the beach and pool leading up to November. You may have seen that I featured this amazing beach blanket in a previous post shot at The Lab; and I'm excited to share it again featuring some poolside lounging. Las Bayadas is based out of  Sayulita, Mexico, the blankets were created by a husband and wife duo that fell in love with and were inspired by the Mexican blankets that adorned houses, and they wanted to turn that into a beach towel. Since the environment is very important to them, they work with a firm that provides recycled towels so that Las Bayadas blankets are eco-friendly. As well, the company is committed to the community by donating 10% of the profits of each towel sold to its eco-friendly partner, the Costa Verde International School, to support a scholarship program for its local green" Mexican students. Shop the towel beach blankets here, and witness the vibrant energy of Sayulita here!Photos taken by Renee Rogers
